Device-native speech on mobile
Remix now turns speech into game prompts on iOS and Android using the OS speech recognizer. IOS SFSpeechRecognizer and Android SpeechRecognizer. Not a custom transcription pipeline. When you tap the mic, the device listens continuously, streams interim text into the composer as you talk, and submits the joined transcript when you stop. That keeps latency low and avoids shipping audio to a server just to capture an idea.
The create screen and studio chat composer both expose the same dictation flow. On create, the mic sits beside the prompt you would otherwise type; in studio, it lives in the chat toolbar and expanded composer so iteration can stay voice-first too. Typed text and dictated text share one input, including edits you made before tapping the mic. The transcript appends to what you already wrote instead of replacing it.
Audio that still plays games
Mobile games on Remix rely on the same audio session as previews and gameplay, which normally runs in playback mode. Dictation needs recording enabled, so the client temporarily switches the session to allow the microphone, starts recognition, then restores the playback default when dictation ends. That prevents the recognizer from cutting off immediately and keeps game audio behaving normally once you are done talking.
Permissions are handled on first use: microphone and speech recognition must be granted in Settings before voice input works, and the app surfaces a clear error if either is missing. If you background Remix mid-dictation, the session aborts so the mic does not stay hot.
Why voice on the phone
The best game ideas rarely arrive at a keyboard. Voice collapses the gap between "I have a mechanic in my head" and "the agent is building it" to the speed of talking. Combined with the mobile studio you already have, a creator can open Remix, describe a game in one breath, watch it render in preview, and keep refining out loud until it feels right. Then publish straight to the feed.
